Off-Marketplace Policies
Fun Fact!
Most of the same Health Insurance Policies that are on the Health Insurance Marketplace, are also available as Off-Marketplace policies.
What does that even mean?
Off-Marketplace policies are the same as the Health Insurance Marketplace Policies except there’s no subsidy attached to them, and you can enroll into a Health Plan directly through the Insurance Carrier. These Health Policies are there for Americans who don’t qualify for a subsidy (APTC-Advancement of the Premium Tax Credit) through the Health Insurance Marketplace.
Since there’s no subsidy (APTC) attached to these Policies, there are some Health Policies that you can purchase directly through the Insurance Carrier that aren’t available on the Health Insurance Marketplace.
Important!
If you’re an individual whose income teeters 400% of the Federal Poverty Level for their Tax Household and doesn’t want to have anything to do with the Government, then these are the Health Plans for you!
Please Keep in Mind:
If you’re that individual on the borderline of 400% of the Federal Poverty Level, you MAY want to still enroll into a Health Insurance Marketplace policy. Please CLICK HERE to visit our On-Marketplace Policies Page for more information on what income you would need to include in your application, who to include on your application, and view a current chart of the 2024 Federal Poverty Level Guidelines
Why would you want to do that?
If you have already visited our On-Marketplace Policies Page, you will see that if you end up filing your taxes above 400% of the Federal Poverty Level, then you would have to pay back every dollar of subsidy (APTC) received during that Health Plan Year. If we have a member that is on that borderline, but likes an On-Marketplace Plan, we always suggest to not take the subsidy (APTC). That way if you end up filing your taxes above 400% of the Federal Poverty Level, you won’t get penalized. BUT, if you end up making under that 400%, then the IRS will give you that money you would have qualified for in your Tax Refund.
Off-Marketplace Policies can be extremely expensive since there’s so subsidy (APTC) attached to those plans to bring the monthly premiums down.
Especially for certain Networks. Florida Blue has 4 different Networks for anyone under 65 who isn’t eligible for Medicare due to disability. Part of our job as agents is to be sure your provider is IN-Network before purchasing a Health Plan.
There are also certain plans that don’t cover Brand Prescription Medications without paying into a High Deductible first. A good Agent will look up all your Medications to find the best Health Plan to fit your specific medical needs.

If you enroll into a Health Plan directly with Florida Blue, then their Corporate Office will be your Agent of Record and that can NEVER be changed unless you have a lapse in coverage, which is not advised!
